STATEMENT

My work began through the direct replication of urban marks and forms. Influenced heavily by street art, I photographed, drew, and collaged from these spaces. I am now seeking a deeper engagement and understanding of what surrounds me, and I am shifting towards a quieter and more subtle method of exploration. Instead of working towards a fixed outcome, I allow each process to unfold organically, investing myself fully into each stage of making, and letting material guide me.

My practice engages with themes of the surrounding world, reflecting an awareness of an era shaped by technological overuse. I aim to distance both myself and my audience from a dissociative state, encouraging a newfound engagement with ordinary, lived moments. My work considers the act of making through unstable notions of belonging, and inherited safety nets that remain out of reach. Through material, I negotiate these tensions. By building a visual archive of everyday life, I ultimately seek to navigate feelings of solitude, disconnection, and the aching burden of ambition.

I now continue to draw forms from urban landscapes and built environments, translating their textures and atmospheres into a more resolved studio context. I exist in a constant state of awareness, gathering fragments of human traces and constructing a visual diary as a form of translating my everyday, passing encounters. Working primarily with photography, I spontaneously document daily experiences, focusing on observational and overlooked moments. These observations may later be reinterpreted as screenprints, collages, or paintings. More recently, I have focused on layering these interpretations to create immersive environments. Using built metal structures, I hold visual fragments alongside scrap acrylic and Perspex, enabling material dialogues that shape spatial relationships and narratives.
